Nellore

Again long weekend fever....
Kosu called to find out guys interested in weekend trip.  We were searching for situation " 2 guys saying "option 1 & 2 guys saying "option 2" but no green signal from 46it group.

Thought -------Usually we travel to south of chennai & some time west of chennai. Let us try some place north of chennai. Quick search ended up in "Nellore" - never travelled before.
Quick search listed out few spots like Mypad beach, Ranganatha samy temple, gonnawada temple, bird sanctury. After looking at few photos of nellore in the net, we finalised nellore for weekend trip.

Akshi got up by 7 am and asked "Are we really going to Nellore " Where is nellore? Is it near B'lore?. replied "I also dont know about nellore but we will go there today".
Packed up luggages for 2 days and started off by 8.00 am from Mogappair.
Had "kichadi" breakfast @ kosu's house. Moved luggage from swift to Scorpio and started the journey by 9.00 am towards nellore.

Trip started off with wish list (from ladies) for next visit.
  • Coimbatore
  • Delhi!!!???
  • Thiruvannamalai
  • Kerala
list agreed for this year (luckily everything within India).

Then word building game came. Game was going good but stopped when we said g for girl and l for love .. And missed the way near Puzhal but got the right track after U turn in next bridge.

Greenish paddy fields after gummidipoondy increased enthusiam..
Board showing direction for bird sanctuary seen multiple times on the highway... but no bird was visible...

By 12.30 noon we stopped at signboard showing "Nellore - 2 KM"-  and started asking how to go to nellore....only answer came was " Go Straightuuuuu".  After talking to alteast 5 people, we started using "Uuuu" and "lluuu" with every word and started saying  " we know Teluguuu".

Within 1 KM , we learned telugu....
I  recollected Sheik's famous word  " machi, intha street mudiyirathukkula naan unakku Oracle solli tharren".

With that quick telugu, we located & booked rooms in APTDC. Spacious one with unusual beehive in corridor.

After heavy Andhra meals (food was just ok at APTDC), took rest for 2 hrs. Akshi was drawing & making noise...

We asked for directions for "Mypad beach " in telugu / hindi / tamil when passing through villages and reached beach by 5.30. Its about 20 Km from Nellore.
1/100 th of Marina beach... but enjoyed. Took couple of snaps. Only 10 to 15 people were there.

On the way back, ladies took us to Nellore shopping (!!!!!!).

 Flamingo bar cooled the night.

Sunday was reserved only for temples.
Visited Jonnawada - Sri Kamatchi tai temple - around 25 kms from nellore.

Then moved to Naraimhakonda temple in a nearby hill. Hill view was wonderful

On the way, we stopped at Dodla dairy unit and had couple of milk items and refreshed.

Lot of  greenish cotton farms were there. Ladies challenged " Can you get couple of Cotton ". Even after saying i dont have guts... i was pushed out of car to pluck couple of cotton.
Marana payathoda eduthuittu oooodi vanduten...

Reached city and we were searching for good hotels & directions. Instead of saying " straightuuuuu" & " leftuuuuu" two boys (heros...) came all they way in 2 wheeler and helped us to reach Venkatramana hotel..

Ordered 4 andhra meals just with 100 bugs in purse......Just realised that i was roaming in nellore for 1 1/2 day with 100 rupees cash..

After heavy meals, took rest for 2 hours. Then moved to Sri Ranganatha swamy temple.
While asking for direction, one Citizen (!!!!!) came and gave tips how to drive in opposite direction in one way & bang commissioner. Kosu took note of it sincerely....

Sri Ranganatha swamy temple is 600 year old temple @ banks of pennar river. Perumal was in sleeping position (instead of facing entrance he was facing other direction)

After funful Sunday, we started our journey back to chennai......
Nandi & Koli's family missed the trip.
